ACRYLIC PRODUCTS

Meridian Etch acrylic products are created using quality acrylic sheet (also known as Polymethyl Methacrylate or PMMA). As acrylic (including mirrored acrylic) is very fragile, may break or splinter we highly recommend that all acrylic products be kept out of reach of children and pets to prevent injury and product damage.

Please handle acrylic products with care and use both hands to hold your acrylic products, ensuring you hold each item from the thickest part of the product and from the middle (not the edges) to prevent breakage. If hanging or attaching your acrylic product to a wall or elsewhere, it is your responsibility to ensure it is securely fastened as it will likely break if it falls.

Do not drop or bend your acrylic product. Do not attempt to drill holes into your acrylic product or attempt to cut it in any way as these actions can cause damage or breakage. Do not hang acrylic or mirrored acrylic products above or next to cots or beds, where vibrations or movement can be reasonably expected, on doors or in an area where a person or child may be harmed if the item was to fall or be knocked, and always ensure products are out of a child’s reach.

Acrylic products are flammable. As such, do not place acrylic products near an open flame or heat source. This includes not placing acrylic cake toppers near candles on a cake and not placing Christmas ornaments and decorations near Christmas tree lights.

To clean your acrylic products, it is best to start by lightly blowing loose dust and dirt from your product. You may wish to wipe with a clean soft cloth (such as a microfiber cloth) and lukewarm water. Do not use harsh chemicals on your acrylic product as they will damage the acrylic. Do not use glass cleaner, kitchen grease cleaner, vehicle wax, nail polish remover or products containing ammonia, gasoline or acetone. Do not use paper towel, abrasive scourers or abrasive cloths. Avoid contact with sharp objects, children, pets, heat, direct sunlight and flames as these can damage the acrylic.

For trolley tokens, please handle with care and do not apply pressure to the token, or force it into a trolley or move it in an up/down motion as it can break. If the token is not entering the trolley slot smoothly, please try another trolley rather than forcing the token. Meridian Etch is not liable in the event of a trolley token breaking inside a trolley.

Unless otherwise specified, all acrylic products are for indoor use only. Keep out of direct sunlight and away from all sources of heat to avoid fading and warping/bending.

VEGAN LEATHER PRODUCTS

Meridian Etch products are made using quality vegan leather that is easier to care for and clean than it’s natural counterpart. If dust or dirt is evident, clean gently with a clean, soft cloth and lukewarm water. For more stubborn marks, clean with a soft cloth or sponge with a gentle dish detergent and lukewarm water.

To maintain the integrity and longevity of your vegan leather product, avoid using hot water, abrasive cloths or harsh chemicals as these may damage the product. Do not submerge the product in water or put it in a washing machine. We recommend regular gentle cleaning to prevent the build up of dirt and marks. Avoid contact with sharp objects, children, pets, heat, direct sunlight and flames as these can damage the vegan leather. Do not store in a high humidity environment.

BAMBOO PRODUCTS

Meridian Etch bamboo products are made using quality bamboo for a natural feel and look. As a natural material, no two bamboo products are identical as there are always minor variances in the texture, grain and colour of each bamboo item. To maintain the hygiene and longevity of your bamboo products, we recommend that you avoid allowing the bamboo product to come into contact with water, oil, moisture, harsh chemicals, perfumes, cosmetics, direct sunlight, heat and flames. If your product comes into contact with water, dry immediately with a towel and leave to air dry thoroughly before storing.

For bamboo chopping boards, serving boards and kitchen items, wash with warm water, a gentle dish detergent and soft cloth or sponge, rinse with warm water and dry your product with a clean towel immediately after use. Stand your bamboo board on its side to air dry thoroughly before storing. Season your bamboo board to avoid it splitting. We recommend cutting on the under side of the board to preserve the engraving.

Do not soak your bamboo product in water or place it in a dishwasher, microwave or oven. This will warp, crack or burn your bamboo product. Do not store in a high humidity environment. Store in a cool, dry, flat location.

Bamboo products are flammable. As such, do not place bamboo products near an open flame. This includes not placing bamboo cake toppers near candles on a cake or Christmas ornaments and decorations near Christmas lights.

You as the purchaser are entirely responsible for the effects of sanding, seasoning and/or applying a finish to your bamboo product. Meridian Etch does not recommend any sanding, finishes, coating or paint for our bamboo products.

Please note, engraving on bamboo products will fade over time or with the use of harsh chemicals or cleaning, soaking, rubbing or wiping.

PLYWOOD PRODUCTS

(the below instructions also apply to our range of keepsake boxes including but not limited to those for rings, teeth, wine, whiskey, seeds, pet treats, toys, jewellery and recipes)

Meridian Etch products are created using a range of quality plywood. Please handle all plywood products and keepsake box hinges and latches with care as they can be quite fragile.

As a natural material, plywood develops character over time and ages well if treated with the right care. No two plywood products are identical as there are always minor variances in the texture, grain and colour of each plywood item. To maintain the integrity and longevity of your plywood product, we recommend regular dusting with a clean, dry, soft microfiber cloth or feather duster. Avoid allowing your plywood product to come into contact with water, oil, food, moisture, harsh chemicals, perfumes, cosmetics, direct sunlight, Blu-Tack, heat and flames as this may cause damage and/or discolouration. If your product comes into contact with water, dry immediately with a towel and leave to air dry thoroughly before storing. Do not store in a high humidity environment. Store in a cool, dry location.

ACACIA WOOD PRODUCTS

Meridian Etch products are made from acacia wood, a common wood chosen for chopping and serving boards due to its durability. As a natural material, no two acacia wood products are identical as there are always minor variances in the texture, grain, shape and colour of each acacia wood item. To maintain the hygiene and longevity of your acacia wood products, we recommend that you avoid allowing the product to come into contact with water, oil, moisture, harsh chemicals, perfumes, cosmetics, direct sunlight, heat and flames. If your product comes into contact with water, dry immediately with a towel and leave to air dry thoroughly before storing.

For acacia chopping boards, serving boards and kitchen items, wash with warm water, a gentle dish detergent and soft cloth or sponge, rinse with warm water and dry your product with a clean towel immediately after use. Stand your board on its side to air dry thoroughly before storing. Season your board on a consistent basis to ensure it does not crack. We recommend cutting on the under side of the board to preserve the engraving.

Do not soak your acacia wood product in water or place it in a dishwasher, microwave or oven. This will warp, crack or burn your product. Do not store in a high humidity environment. Store in a cool, dry location.

RUBBER WOOD PRODUCTS

Meridian Etch products are made from rubber wood, a sustainable wood that comes from the rubber tree after it has ceased producing sap (known as latex). As a natural material, no two rubber wood products are identical as there are always minor variances in the texture, grain, shape and colour of each rubber wood item. To maintain the hygiene and longevity of your rubber wood products, we recommend that you avoid allowing the product to come into contact with water, oil, moisture, harsh chemicals, perfumes, cosmetics, direct sunlight, heat and flames. KEY RINGS & BAG TAGS

Meridian Etch key rings and bag tags (referring to all associated attachments and accessories) are created using a range of quality materials. Please handle with care.

Do not drop your key ring or bag tag from height, attempt to drill holes into your key ring or bag tag, or attempt to cut it in any way as these actions can cause damage and breakage. Please ensure key rings are kept out of a child’s reach as small parts are a choking hazard. Please ensure bag tags are attached to bags securely.

For plywood key ring and bag tag cleaning and safety instructions, please refer to ‘PLYWOOD PRODUCTS’ above.

For vegan leather key ring and bag tag cleaning and safety instructions, please refer to ‘VEGAN LEATHER PRODUCTS’ above.

* The below instructions do not apply to key rings and bag tags with plywood or vegan leather.

To clean your key ring or bag tag, it is best to start by lightly blowing loose dust and dirt from your product. You may wish to wipe with a clean soft cloth (such as a microfiber cloth) and lukewarm water with a mild dish detergent. Do not use harsh chemicals on your key ring or bag tag as they will damage the product. Do not use glass cleaner, kitchen grease cleaner, vehicle wax, nail polish remover or products containing ammonia, gasoline or acetone. Do not use paper towel, abrasive scourers or cloths. Avoid contact with sharp objects, children, pets, heat, direct sunlight and flames as these can damage the product.

Some metals tarnish over time. This may happen to metals such as stainless steel, brass, copper, pewter, chrome and zinc. If tarnishing occurs, you may wish to use an appropriate cleaner whilst ensuring not to get any cleaning product on the key ring attachments as this can cause damage.

NIGHTLIGHTS

Meridian Etch nightlights come with instructions on how to safely set up and operate your new nightlight. Please ensure you follow these instructions closely to prevent fire or injury. Please keep in mind that nightlights are an electrical product and therefore come with the same risk of fire and electric shock as other household electric products.

Keep your nightlight away from water.

Keep your nightlight out of reach of children and pets.

Discontinue use if nightlight appears faulty, smells, makes noise, smokes, flickers or sparks.

Discontinue use if the cable or any part of the nightlight appears damaged.

Do not leave your nightlight on whilst no one is home.

CAKE TOPPERS

Wipe cake topper to ensure it is clean before use.

Wrap/coat cake topper stem/spike in food safe material such as aluminium foil, baking paper, glad wrap or bees wax before inserting into a cake.

Cake toppers are made from products (acrylic, bamboo and plywood) which are flammable and should not be placed near an open flame, including a candle(s) on a cake.

Beware of the risk of injury caused by the stem/spike of the cake topper.

Remove cake topper before cutting cake to prevent damage/breakage and injury.

Do not try to bend or twist the cake topper as it will break.

Do not eat cake topper.

Do not put cake topper in a freezer, dishwasher, microwave or oven.

Do not put mirror acrylic, plywood or bamboo cake toppers in a fridge.

Keep cake topper out of reach of children and pets at all times.

Cake toppers are not toys and are not to be handled by children.

See product care and safety information above specifically related to acrylic, bamboo and plywood as these product care and safety instructions also apply to cake toppers.

CHALK BOARDS

Chalk boards are made of plywood and black chalk board paint.

Please refer to Plywood instructions above for how to care for plywood and its safe use.

Chalk boards are made using chalk board paint and are to be used with standard chalk only. Remove all chalk as soon as possible after application and ensure the board is thoroughly dry prior to storing for next use. With repeated use, a 'ghosting' grey colour may begin to appear, which is normal for chalk board paint. You may wish to repaint with chalk board paint available from most hardware stores.

‘Liquid chalk markers’ (including any type of chalk pens) are NOT to be used with our chalk boards. These markers are generally not intended to be used as chalk, as these markers are for permanent designs when used on chalk board or other permeable materials. ‘Liquid chalk markers’ are for use on some plastics and glass and are not removable if used on chalk board paint.

‘Liquid chalk markers’ cannot be removed from chalk board paint. We recommend painting over the chalk board with chalk board paint if ‘liquid chalk markers’ are used.
